Udayachal on 15th July participated in a World Youth Skills Day 2021 program organised by Assam Skill Development Mission at Assam Administrative Staff College, Khanapara.The dignitaries present were Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship Minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary, Varnali Deka, Mission Director, ASDM, Dr. Krishna Kumar Dwivedi, Principal Secretary, Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship Department, Government of Assam, and Hanif Noorani, Former Assistant Mission Director, ASDM. The introductory speech was given by Varnali Deka where she mentioned about the motive behind celebrating youth skills day worldwide along with this year’s theme – reimagining youth skills post pandemic. Then, it was followed by Dr. K. K. Dwivedi where he emphasized on the importance of equipping young people with skills for employment and entrepreneurship.
Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship Minister, Chandra Mohan Patowary put his strong beliefs on skill trainings. According to him, in the recent times, the value of formal education has decreased compared to earlier times. The pandemic has changed the dimension of education. The future depends only on skills. The present employment related scenario demands attention to technical and vocational skills for employment and entrepreneurship. He also added about the importance of upskilling in terms of creativity and innovation to survive in today’s world. Lastly, he requested all the staffs of ASDM and all the training partners to work hard and genuinely to make India the Skill Capital of the World.
Along with the dignitaries the event was attended by the training partners and some of the young entrepreneurs who have their own start ups. Among them there was Ranjit Baruah, Founder of Aromica Tea, he shared a beautiful presentation by portraying how and when he started his tea business which is now accepted internationally through his different varieties and flavors of tea and which is now giving employment to many. Again, there was Devid Gogoi, Cofounder of Zerund Bricks which is a start up industry dealing with building materials and which is now giving employment to 35 families.
Again, some of the students who got their trainings under ASDM and are placed in different parts of India and abroad shared their experiences and story of transformation and thanked ASDM for their immense support through videos. Thus, the event came to an end with a concluding remark about the strategic importance of equipping the young people given by Hanif Noorani.
